NIFT's Participation |
NIFT's exhibited the products developed during artisan/student workshops at five centers under the same project, for creating marketing opportunities for our Rural artisans.
The product swere developed and displayed in the predecided themes for the season Fall-Winter 2006-07. The collection was based on luxurious, fascinating and very kitsch crafts. It explored the diversity in cultures, techniques, materials, fabrics and trimmings in varied styles and forms.
All our centres handling the cluster development initiative program under SGSY project presented value addition on fabrics which was done through quilting, flocking and other aesthetic finishes.
The entire look and appeal of the crafts was young, optimistic and individualistic. The collection was provocative and bizarre. The four trends that were followed in the exhibition are ‘Kitsch', ‘Ecological Draftsmanship', ‘Modern Artistry' and ‘Surreal Landscape.
The Collection got a very good response from the buyers , International buyers were impressed with the contemporisation of the traditional crafts. We received a lot of inquires for the products. All the Consultants have maintained good relationship with the buyers and will start working with them on commercial basis as soon as the capacity building at the grassroot level is accomplished.
